Denim Repair
Here is a collection of jeans and work pants I have repaired in my time at Williamsburg Garment Company. The technique used involves placing a fabric patch of complimentary color and stretch beneath the hole or worn area and sewing along the grainline in a zig-zag fashion. This creates a reinforcement to the jean while continuing to allow the jean to move and stretch as it is worn.
Both stretch and 100% cotton jeans have been repaired and the brands I have worked on include Iron Heart, Diesel, Burberry, Yves Saint Laurent, FRAME, Naked and Famous, Lee, Levi’s, Carhartt, RRL, Paige, True Religion, Oni Denim, Evisu, Gustin, and many more!
Repairing jeans with a cut off leg!
In this video, I demonstrate the steps required to re-attach and strengthen a leg on a pair of Samurai jeans. For the majority of the repair I used a single needle Juki sewing machine. When I closed the outseam I used a Union Special chain stitch machine.
